For that we ran 2 Dodas for most of the time and a Bauer when we knew it was going to be thick/full of silage!

Anything with fibre too it you want the Bauer dodas aren’t very efficient when it’s got a lot of fibre too it, a lot easier to unblock than a doda if a doda blocks up its a major operation unblock it and that stroke oil cooler sh!t they put on the back means your up too your shoulder too unblock it ....
a Bauer 9/10 you can jut twist it off the impeller or worst case spin the 19mm nuts off the shearbar and wind it off with 1 inside nut off each side too fetch the shearbar away and pull everything out then reset... impeller is expensive too replace but wtf you doing too it too need too replace it? The outer casting has blown a hole in it before the impeller on our last 3 pumps

I’m not sure but I need an impeller every hours

What part of the impeller is wearing? we put about 5- hours on an impeller and never worn one out yet just buy a new pump when the outer casing blows a hole through and keep the old one for spares... the plate behind the impeller needs welding or turning every hours roughly and maybe put a new mechanical seal in every 2- hours but apart from that they give us no trouble

At the face of the impeller it will wear holes in it then it will start to run uneven
I’ve got one customer with sand beading so that must melt the metal in pump

If your doing a lot of sand buy a farrari pump purely for sand work as parts for them are half the price of the competition and the pump is practically the same as a doda, until this year we’ve not really pumped much sand but we’re pumping a hell of a lot now so the wear might speed up a lot on the propellers, good job we’ve 4 half worn ones on the shelf [emoji23]

Do you find the sand is hard on your hose ?
Do you find the sand is hard on your hose ?

We blow out with a size larger sponge and the sand still sits in the hose after, if it’s blown out and left wrapped up for a day or 2 we have too crack the pipes off at the adaptors or the sand will just plug the hose where the 5 inch goes down too 4.5... we’ve Definatly started getting a lot more random holes without explanation when we’ve not been pushing the hose since starting pumping more sand and it’s only sand I could put it down too as we don’t really reel pipes round gate posts or anything we go for the straightest route even if it means reeling off 200m in a heep in the field and driving too the other side of a hedge too pull it through and we’ve started too avoid laying pipes on hardcore tracks as either the sand is f**king the pipes or driving down the tracks too fields when the pipes are empty is causing more holes also.....
I dont have that problem with the sand blocking the hoses so i must not have that much sand in the slurry? Still un sure about which pump to go for

Give mark Roberts at slurry mate a ring he sells both pumps and will work out which pump is best for you, he would probably be interested in why your Bauer’s are wearing out so fast in the propellor might be able too he’ll you with that one....

What hose are you using ?

When we were pricing between a underground tank and a tower the offer that was going was when you bought a permastore you get a bauer pump supplied with it and piping whether its going or not im not sure.
We went for the underground tank and got a the pumping kit put onto our hispec agitator. It just diverts the slurry up a pipe and theres an outlet on top to put your pipes onto when your not using it just pull up the plate that diverts it and close the outlet. The only thing is the bloody thing is useless the outlet is facing away from the back of the tractor out into the tank or directly into the wall on a slatted tank absolutely no room to put on a 90deg coupling or anything if you understand me. I fitted a similar nc kit to a nc pump for a fella just comes same as the hispec but it just goes vertically without the 90deg turn on the end so the outlet is horizontal and they give you a 90deg coupling that goes onto the outlet and you attach your pipe to it and it can be turned what ever direction you want much better system. Hispec should fire whatever idiot thougth of their set up. :001_rolleyes:

We had to put up the tank for the storage but sure we just get by without it but its great having a tank of clean water for watering down slatted tanks we used have a 2 mile round trip to get water! But i guess rules are rules :001_rolleyes:

The agitator suits us much better anyway if you had the pump aswell wed have to have another tractor to pump the slurry after the other one has agitated it or have to swap the two over on the tractor which would be too much bother plus we were told by a few lads around they had to have another tractor just to pump it to the tower every couple of days so the tank won!
i would of said where you will put that youd have no bother sticking in a redrock.:001_unsure:
but obviously ye have tried and didn't succeed.

its a clean pump for its age tbh.
they might be timid tho, never had one, but i do have the older nc one in a shed here, its like that but has a single acting ram, it was all the go back in ...

It's hard to explain, but the back window of the tractor is just about sitting against the side sheeting of the shed, there is about 7' between the ground and the sheeting, because that type of pump lies flat, it can get in where the other one won't, it was tried years ago with a Redrock and I tried it again last year "ta be sure".

used one before great wee pump better than the nc but thw abbeys dont come with topfill hatch. granted its no plantmec but id say good value

Thanks for the reply! Even though we have never had any call to use one yet, could a top-fill hatch be fitted to it?
