Two Stage Piston Air Compressors

07 Oct.,2023

Two stage piston air compressors effectively double the compression of air taken into the mechanism. Air is drawn into a first stage cylinder and compressed by the first piston. It is then pushed into the second stage, smaller cylinder by way of an intercooler, and struck by a second piston for further compression before traveling down the line to the tank. Single and two stage piston compressors each include two cylinders. However, while the cylinders are identical in size in single stage compressors, two stage compressors feature the smaller second cylinder with the intercooler. Two stage air compressors are capable of producing higher pressures than single stage, and thus better suited for industrial and continuous applications.
